Outreach

I am committed to communicating earth and planetary sciences at different levels, posting on Facebook, giving talks, and helping increase awareness about climate change and planetary exploration in schools. Below are a few of my outreach activities.

CLIMATIZENS

– “Climate of the Past for Citizens of Tomorrow” – is a pivotal initiative designed for the benefit of secondary school teachers and their students in the canton of Geneva and nearby regions in Switzerland. Following the recent mobilizations of young people for the climate, it seems essential to provide teachers with tools to transmit the complex concepts and facts linked to the Earth's past climates. In this way, students will be able to better understand current environmental issues and consolidate their commitment: understanding the planet and its functioning is the heart of action in the fight against climate change. I am thrilled to augment this initiative by integrating a case study from one of my research papers into the Geneva canton school curriculum. This study elucidates the impact of intense rainfall and climate fluctuations on early humans in the Sahara Desert, offering students a rich, historical context to the ongoing warming world.

Geomorphological Features

Back in 2016, I launched a Facebook page titled "Geomorphological Features" with an aim to bring geoscience and planetary science closer to the public, spotlighting surface processes. Fast forward to now, this community has flourished immensely, uniting over 138,000 followers across multiple countries, and embracing individuals of all genders and backgrounds.

Nuit de la Science Geneva

I had the fortunate opportunity to collaborate with my former group in Geneva, engaging in outreach activities where we educated young minds on the intricacies of river functioning and hydrological science.
